Dr. Jena Nguyen was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota by two wonderful parents and one older brother. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at Southeast Missouri State University. During her time there, she competed as a Division I collegiate gymnast, where she earned MVP honors her freshman year and National Academic Champion honors for 4 straight years.
After obtaining her undergraduate degree, Dr. Nguyen went on to the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. While in Optometry school, Dr. Nguyen was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society and graduated in 2015 with cum laude honors. Further, she completed a one year voluntary residency in Ocular Disease at the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2016. During her time there she had the opportunity of learning from well-known ophthalmologists and optometrists specializing in glaucoma, cataracts, dry eyes, retinal diseases, corneal diseases, and trauma/emergency eye care.
In her free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys going for a run outside, playing fantasy football, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
